Acts 10:34-38; Deuteronomy 10:17-19
In times of confusion, it is often difficult to know with certainty which way to turn. With confusion often comes chaos. With chaos there is often dissent or dissention. Dissention happens when two or more parties disagree on a matter and one, both or all the parties involved, determine to go a different way, or select a different path. Dissenting from what others are doing or are agreeing to is not necessarily a bad thing.
On April 4th, 1968, in Memphis Tennessee, a man that was out on the hotel balcony of the Lorraine Hotel; shortly after 6:00 pm was shot by a high-powered rifle, fired by a convicted armed robber looking out the window of a boarding house less than 100 yards away. Having been rushed to the hospital with his close friends and allies alongside him, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 7:00 pm EST was pronounced dead. And the world lost its greatest civil rights leader. Dr. King may have been assassinated because he was a dissenter.
In our lesson today, Simon, called Peter, also known as Simon Barjona (or son of Jonas), is dealing with conflict, and in his mind this conflict is somewhat chaotic. On one hand he is bound by his Jewish upbringing and Judaic tradition, on another he is exposed to a thinking which is completely the opposite, a spirituality based on JESUS CHRIST. We of course know a little about Simon Peter. We know he was a fisherman by trade. We know he was married and had a mother-in-law who had gotten severely sick and was healed by JESUS Christ. We know that Peter was one of the first disciples chosen.
What we know most about Peter is that he was a man of conviction. He was an outspoken individual, prone to speak his mind, even when he was not asked what was on his mind. And often time he spoke in dissent, so much the more that JESUS once called out the “devil’ in him for allowing Satan to take over his tongue, (Ref. Matt. 16:23). The LORD had no concern about Peter’s conflict, he expected Peter to go against what he was comfortable with and engage Cornelius as he would any other individual seeking the saving grace of Christ. The word clearly states that GOD is no respecter of persons. Meaning, we must be diligent to spread the Gospel because it is afforded to all who will receive it, regardless of their ethnicity, race or economic station in life.
For Peter and all others who are called to deliver the message must do so willingly to whomever we are sent. And then after that we can say, IT’S ALL ON YOU!

From an early age, we teach our young to love and to serve the Lord! This is the most important thing you need to know “about us”! We spend much of our time learning of the love of Christ, and the rest of our time, demonstrating his LOVE. Our Core Belief is centered around the first and greatest commandment; and is likened unto the second...love your neighbor as thyself. Is their better training?
Every ministry has fundamental beliefs that inspire worship. For us at Christ Temple, these fundamental beliefs form the doctrine that we adhere to. It is sometimes referred to as the Apostolic Doctrine. Building on the principles of the doctrine starts with fundamentals found in the Word of GOD.
